Can I have some advise regarding my pet box turtle, he won't eat, he keeps sleeping all day all night?

I found him on the street. I put him in my fish box. I gave him apples and lettuce which he wouldn't eat. Please help!Can I have some advise regarding my pet box turtle, he won't eat, he keeps sleeping all day all night?

He may be brumating or it could be that he is not living in correct conditions. Without appropriate heating and lighting to stimulate their appetite, turtles will not be interested in eating.

I have seen what happens to box turtles when they are inappropriately cared for, so if you haven't researched their diet and habitat, you should seriously consider contacting a wildlife rehabilitator. They will be able to care for the turtle through the winter and release him back into the wild in the spring.
it could be too cold they need to stay warm to digest properly.don't give iceburg lettuce it has no nutritional value try darker greens like romane lettuce collard greens and so on....do some research online and you should be to find the proper diet for a box turtle very easy...once you get the temp up and a basking light for him hopefully he should perk up if not he needs to be seen by a vet....goodluck
his water might be too cold thats commen or it does not like its food i change my turtle food
