I want to buy Elgar's Gerontius - can anyone advise which is the best arrangement for me to get?

My preferred method of shopping is amazon.co.uk.

I DO realise this is a purely subjective preference I am asking for - there just seem so many versions available!I want to buy Elgar's Gerontius - can anyone advise which is the best arrangement for me to get?
You're right, there are quite a few recordings of Elgar's Dream of Gerontius. The funny thing is...the older recordings seem to be more highly regarded than the newer. Here are my recommendations in order of preference:

1. EMI Records - LSO / Barbirolli (ADD)

(This one is considered by most to be The Classic, highly recommended)

2. Decca - LSO %26amp; Chorus / Britten (ADD)

3. Chandos - LSO %26amp; Chorus / Hickox (DDD)

You obviously suffer from insomnia
The Britten recording is excellent.

I have it on an old LP.
