My daughter and family with children aged 5 and 3 have to spend 7-8 hours in Heathrow Airport next Saturday 29th March.(connecting flight to NZ etc.)
Has anyone any knowledge of places near the Airport suitable for a few hours visit with children - preferably on an airport bus route? Can anyone advise on Heathrow Airport acvtivities?
Heres the plan. As soon as they get off their flight, the can check in for their connection to New Zealand, leaving their bags at the airport ready to be put on the plane. They can the scoot off to the tube station and go into central London for the day.
It takes about an hour on the tube from Heathrow Airport tube station, and they could go to the science Museum in South Kensington. Both Heathrow Airport and South Kensington are on the Picaddilly line, so no confusing changes. The kids will love science Museum, and you can spend 5 hours going round there. Lots of hands on activites, places to eat, etc.
Or a relaxing time in Green Park? Also on the Picaddilly line, and is right outside Buckingham Palace. On a sunny day, its great to relax in.
Okay, this isnt ideal, but its something to do with your free 8 hours, and alot can be accomplished in this time. What would you rather do? Relax in Green Park, let the kids entertain themselves in the Museum and then an enjoyable spot of lunch OR a boring 8 hour wait in the airport lounge. And then you have to face the uncomfortable 24 hour flight.
Good luck! Can anyone advise on Heathrow Airport acvtivities?
