Any advise on purchasing more RAM for my Dell computer?

I want to make my computer go faster and have lots of memory on had drive. So, I wonder what the best brand would be and where I would get it and if it is an easy thing to install. Thanks for any input - I live in Ottawa, Ontario.Any advise on purchasing more RAM for my Dell computer?
If you go to the Dell website and type in the number on your service tag, it will bring up your system configuration and give you information on what type memory you need. Then just call and shop around and get the best price that you can find.

Ram is easy to install, and the new ram that you buy will have installation instructions printed right on the package. Once you take the cover off your computer, you'll see that the old ones just slide out, and the new ones just snap in - be sure you push it in the right way, gently, but be sure it snaps into place, all the way down.Any advise on purchasing more RAM for my Dell computer?
Memory isn't related to the hard drive at all, common misconception

Depending on what you have now, 1gig-2gigs is fine. Some computers have 4 slots but some only have 2, so depending on that it limits your choices, but I would recommend getting at least 1gig and a half. One gig runs around $150 but you can get half that [wouldn't recommend this] for half the price. [512 stick]

make sure you find out exactly what type you need, take your memory out and bring it to the best buy salesman or whatever store you have
First off are you looking for memory not hard drive anything. A mem stick is the biggest speed increase for your money. I would go to tigerdirect.com and online chat with a tech on there they can most likely get you an extra stick of memory to fit your pc.
Get the most RAM it can handle. It's dead easy to install.

Just push the clips at the end of the stick(s) open simultaneously, then set the new stick in and push down gently and evenly til the clips snap back shut again. Make sure it's correctly aligned first. You'll need to press fairly firmly sometimes, but be careful.

Destatic yourself by touching some grounded metal thing like a pipe or computer case first. Hold it by the edges, not the chips on the face of it!

Corsair makes the best ram, and I've heard good about ocz brand too.
